This project allowed me to really understand WordPress. I learned more ways of editing information on the page through this project. I struggle with picking designs. The fact that some themes wouldn’t allow you to customize it to make it workable was very frustrating, especially when you were half way through customizing it. For my commerce theme I choose to stick with the storefront theme. I wanted to choose a different theme other than storefront as it's the original theme that comes with Woocommerce, but this is one of the sites I had trouble with other themes. But honestly, I think aesthetically this one just looked better the way it was set up already layout wise. For Plugins I added an extra contact form 7 as well as the plugins that came with woo commerce and Storefront. For qualitative elements for the commerce site I added in videos about the products. I also added in a post for the blog part to add the overall believability to the site. Additionally I added in extra css with google fonts and changed up colors that theme wouldn’t allow me to manually change. I tried this time to use closer and more moderate colors and similar fonts to not look so crazy, as per feedback from my first site. I’d say I learned a ton from this project, but I wish to get super comfortable with it. I really did struggle the most with commerce sites. IT just had so many comments and no matter how many things I tried to read up on or look up I still got lost. However, I hope to get better and hopefully expand my own resale shop over to an eshop.
This project allowed me to really understand WordPress. I learned more ways of editing information on the page through this project. I struggle with picking designs. I was able to truly customize the news site. I choose the Fairy Theme for my news site. I chose Fairy as my theme for my news site as the other news sites I thought were just aesthetically too busy for a feel good news site so I chose a magazine theme. I just thought having the moving components that most of the news sites had would be too hectic. For Plugins I added an extra contact form 7 as well as the plugins that came with the theme. To add in some qualitative element for my news site I added related tabs and some videos, switching them up for different articles. I also added extra css to add in google fonts and to change more colors in the theme, to make it look more aesthetic! I’d say I learned a ton from this project, but I wish to get super comfortable with it. I really mastered how to use the inspector to change the css, so that is awesome! But I feel like I still struggle to edit the themes well that are on WP. I really did enjoy looking up cute news stories though!!
